How does Relativity use AI data?
How is data generated by aiR utilized by Relativity?
Relativity has published a white paper addressing its AI security policies assuring its clients that it focuses on data privacy at each stage of its development of aiR. Â Its information security management system is audited multiple times by an independent agency. Steps are taken to ensure that it is in compliance with the regulations of each jurisdiction in which it operates.
It utilizes the Azure OpenAI service. Azure not only guarantees that all data inputted by its clients and the outputs that the clients receive are not disclosed to other clients, but also promises that this data will not be used to improve other AI models. Azure’s OpenAI does not exchange information with other OpenAI services such as ChaTGPT.
However clients can agree to Relativity’s use of derived data sets which can be used to improve the software’s performance. It does anonymize these data sets.
Relativity conducts monthly control evidence requests to test whether or not security policies are being complied with.
Relativity gives its clients the right to revoke permission to participate in AI experiments.
Azure can conduct manual review of content to check for potential security vulnerabilities. It’s notable that in order to safeguard the privacy of its clients’ data, Relativity opts out of such monitoring by Azure. See this post on the Microsoft site which states, “when automated review does not meet applicable confidence thresholds in complex contexts or if automated review systems are not available, human eyes-on review may be introduced to make an extra judgment. Authorized Microsoft employees may assess content flagged through content classification and/or identified as part of a potentially abusive pattern of use.“
Keep in mind that Relativity’s Lockbox settings lets users prevent Relativity admins from accessing selected data. The client can control who can get into a workspace.
For RelOne Government data storage is restricted to the United States.
