Compression Methods and WinZip

Every version of WinZip won't open any compressed file, if it has the extension 'zip'. Recently I trip to open a file with the extension, 'zip' and received the following messages:

An error message like this may indicate that you simply need to upgrade WinZip, or try a different file compression program. Compression method value 8 is the used by default by most programs. It's the DEFLATE algorithm originally developed for PKWare. You'd think the file compression program from PKWare (downloadable here,

https://www.pkware.com ) would open such a file, but it does not. This message is actually a cue from WinZip that the wrong password is being used to extract the data.
