ALSPs

The past few years have seen a rise in the number of companies and law firms using ALSPs - Alternative Legal Service Providers -which perform legal research; electronic discovery; and regulatory compliance.

ALSPs tend to make more advanced use of technology. They may be small start-ups or the large accounting firms - Deloitte, EY, KPMG, and PwC. Some law firms are establishing their own ALSP affiliates. A report by Thomson Reuters provides an overview of participants in the ALSP field:

Legal Process Outsourcing (LPO) refers to the practice of engaging ALSPs for certain matters or types of projects.
