Since 2019, Relativity has only charged 33% as much for data stored for early case assessment as it charges for active data, and only charges users that work in RelativityOne (its SaaS software as service) 60% of regular user rates. RelativityOne users also have unlimited use of the Relativity analytics tools.

Relativity provides a licensing option different than its traditional model of requiring a three year commitment with a fixed number of users and data. Instead, billing can be based on the number of active users and data utilized each month.

Conceptually Rich Documents for Conceptual Indices in Relativity Analytics

When setting up a training set to be used for the creation of a conceptual index in Relativity, be sure to exclude computer generated files. Include conceptually rich documents in the set. Excel spreadsheets will rarely be examples of conceptually rich documents. Databases should also be avoided.

Conceptually rich documents should account for the full range of issues in a case and any new ones that arise.

Documents with foreign terms may be included if they are pertinent to key concepts.

Documents with lots of isolated strings of words should be avoided if possible.

Both documents which are relevant to a case and clearly non-relevant documents should be included. A review with conceptual analytics will want to find documents which should be excluded from a production.

Short emails of a few sentences are generally not good to use for a set of conceptually rich documents.

Documents Errors in Analytics Operations

When performing analytics such as email threading and textual near duplicate identification in Relativity, you will encounter errors if the saved search contains documents with one of the following problems:

1. A document has special characters, such emojis, the analytics engine can't process.

2. A document has no text.

3. A document has encrypted text

4. A document has corrupted text.

5. A metadata field exceeds 500 characters.

6. Email threads have more than 2000 segments.

The email parsing operation may also simply take too long resulting in a 'CharSequenceTimeoutException' error.

When running a conceptual analytics index you can choose to review the documents that errored after the index is populated, by setting 'Remove documents that errored during population' to 'No' in the advanced settings.
