The Digital Universe Paradox

Today Bloomberg BNA and Nuix hosted a presentation on new developments in electronic discovery. The participants in the presentation included Judge Frank Maas and James Arnold, the director of Forensics Technology at KPMG.

One of the issues that was focused upon was the 'Digital Universe Paradox', a study by IDC. While there has been a steady decline in the cost of data storage, the overall investment in data storage has been rising just as steeply. This may be explained in part by the failure of companies to purge unneeded data. A key problem for companies is their failure to discard data after the time they required to retain it.

eDiscovery is Booming

According to a study by the International Data Corporation called, "Worldwide E-Discovery Services Forecast 2014-2019", the global eDiscovery market totaled $10 billion in 2015, and will increase by almost 10 percent between now and 2019.
